BLOODLINES AND BRUTYALITY: CREATING THE ARTWORK FOR MAGGOT COLONY’s NEW EP.

Maggot

Chinese novel illustrator, Guang Yang, recently crafted an amazing illustration for the cover of Maggot Colony’s new EP, “Spewing The Violated Souls”.

About this involvement with the Taiwanese death metallers, the Beijing-based artist says: “Maggot Colony and I are friends and they quite like the covers I did for Putridity and Inherite Disease, so they invited me to do their first EP and their upcoming second album’s covers. They asked me to do both of their covers to maintain stylistic consistency, so we hit it off quite quickly.

Regarding the the EP’s artwork, Guang comments that the band “wanted to try a more narrative genre, rather than simply showcasing bloodiness and brutality — they wanted something subtle and spiritual, so I conceived and created a heart which needs souls to be its nourishment, it is alive and will grow in their next album.”

The artwork was created using mostly Photoshop.
