Time for you to meet Zeb Love… Artist, screen printer, vinyl collector & comic enthusiast. He has done artwork with his photo manipulation style for various bands. In addition, he has done shirt designs by employing a very detailed drawing style with certain ethereal elements.
How did you get your first paying art job?
In high school I used to message about 40 bands on Myspace a day..eventually I snagged one.
Have you always worked in your current style and if not how did you work before?
Yes, I’ve always loved doing photo manipulation type stuff. That is how I learned Photoshop.
Who are your artistic influences?
Aaron Horkey, and Damn Engine.
Take us through a typical day?
Wake up, eat some cereal, brew a pot of Folgers, browse OMG Posters, check e-mail, respond to anything that needs it, then I start working.
How do you create your work? Take us through the process from concept to final.
As soon as the concept is figured out between the band and I, I schedule a photo-shoot, take some pictures, go home and sift through them all to find the ones that will work, then spend about 30 hours in Photoshop putting everything together.
Do you use reference materials or does all of it come from your head?
Most of all of my stuff is photo related, so I guess the references I use are the images I take.
Do the bands give you any direction?
Bands (lately) haven’t really given too much direction. I always prefer to have a jumping off point, but sometimes you just have figure that out too.
What are you currently working on?
I’m working on a few logo’s, and an album layout for a band called Allura.
Who are your favorite bands of all time and what bands are you listening to right now?
As I’m typing out this answer, I’m listening to Givers – In Light. My favorite band of all time is The Strokes.
