Happy Birthday MBA!!!!

Today is the 1 Year Anniversary of Metal Band Art!!!

I was just prepping some new posts when I thought….hmmmm…it seems that I have been doing this for a year?! I checked the calendar and guess what? Today is the the actual 1 year anniversary!!!! Reflecting back over the last year seems a bit trivial, when you can just search the site yourself. But man, this site has turned out so much cooler than I first could have conceived. At the start, I wanted to feature metal art that I liked and give the credit to fellow hard working artists. I had my ups and downs as far as posting on a regular basis but I think there is a tremendous amount of content up already.

The young geeky artist in me says: Holy shit!!! I interviewed Derek Riggs, Dave Mckean, Joe Petagno, Chet Zar, Godmachine, Dan Mumford, Mark Riddick, Ernie Cefalu, Travis Smith, Par Olofsson and John Baizley. In addition, it has been cool to mix in lesser known artists to give them some exposure. There have been some work in progress features, which I hope to do more of this year and some special guests counting down their favorite metal album covers. What really has been amazing is the response that I have gotten not only from the fans but from fellow artists. When I first sent emails out, particularly with Mr. Riggs, I thought: No way in hell he responds!!!! Not only did artists respond but everyone featured on the site has been great to work with and in most cases, really gave us a phenomenal interview.

Thanks to all of the artists who have contributed to the site and to all the readers…looking forward to year two!!!
