This is as good as breaking news in the MBA community. Mastodon has sent out the first look at the cover for their new record, The Hunter, which will come out in the fall. The biggest shock to me is that it is not done by Paul Romano!!!! The artist who did it is AJ Fosik and I hope to have him on here sometime before the record comes out. I have seen AJ’s work before as it was just recently on the cover of Hi Fructose magazine. I like his work but for some reason it does not feel like Mastodon without a kick ass painting by Mr. Romano. What does everyone think?

cover looks more like something The Mars Volta would do. not digging the faux runes for the logo also. we’ll get used to it…
Fosik is awesome! that dude makes those things out of wood. He carves and paints each piece and then assembles it. BUT I do agree, the font for the band name sucks.
I think it looks great, but I’d still rather see a Romano on there.
